Motlopi Game Ranch is situated near Klerksdorp in the North West Province. It is about 2 hours drive from O.R. Tambo International Airport.

It is a malaria free area.

The name “Motlopi” is the Setwana name for the  Shephard’s tree (Witgat boom). The main South African language spoken in the North West Province is Setwana.

Motlopi Game Ranch was established in 2009. The directors of the breath-taking Motlopi Game Ranch are brother and sister. The owners are passionate and adventurous with a great love for nature. The owners are also involved in other businesses. The owners are caring, warm hearted people with a great sense of humour.

For the owners, Motlopi trees are a signature of Africa. The Motlopi tree has the deepest known root structure of 68 metres. The roots were used to create a variant of coffee. The fruits can be consumed by humans and the leaves can be consumed by herbivores. Traditional medicines for humans and livestock is also made of its leaves. Utensils were made out of the wood. Due to all the benefits of the Motlopi tree, it is called ‘The Tree of Life’.

Our roots are growing in the nature as deep as the Motlopi tree’s roots in the ground!
